Health Psychology

Dr. Hoskins has a passion for understanding the mind-body connection. When illness strikes or surgery occurs, individuals must confront complex psychological and physical challenges. These challenges impact clients as well as their loved ones. Dr. Hoskins has worked as a research assistant in genetics, holds a Masters in Public Health and completed her pre-doctoral residency with a specialization in health psychology. She has expertise in treating inpatients and outpatients who are experiencing a range of medical presentations and in supporting caregivers of those who are ill and/or adjusting.

General Psychology

Therapy can help resolve a myriad of psychological issues. Seeking treatment is helpful if you are feeling hopeless or stuck, struggling with activities of dailing living (self-care, work, parenting, etc.) or finding yourself consumed with worry. Other reasons to seek therapy include feeling empty and dissatisfied with life, having difficulty in your relationships, noticing harm to others (eg: anger) or yourself (eg: substance use; self-harm), and/or coping with traumatic memories. Dr. Hoskins has experience in adult mental health from working in a university counselling centre as well as community mental health clinics.

My Approach

My passion for psychology is borne out of a love of narrative and the diversity of lived experience. Therapy is a non-judgmental space to explore some of our greatest fears and most difficult challenges. It is a privilege to be a part of clients' journey towards healing and growth. I endeavour to create a therapeutic experience that invites trust, acceptance and hope.

My approach is integrative in nature, meaning it draws from a variety of evidence-based modalities. My practice is primarily informed by the following paradigms:

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Emotion-focused Therapy (EFT)

  • Gottman Certification (Couples Therapy)

  • Existential Therapy

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

  • Feminist Therapy

I believe therapy is a place to diminish suffering. Through bolstering coping and fostering self-acceptance, clients move towards a life that aligns with their values. It is incredibly rewarding to facilitate clients' courage and resilience. It is possible not only to flourish, but also to thrive. Let's begin.
